This may be the most known Vitamin out there. When we hear Vitamin C, basically, most of us think that this nutrition comes from fruits particularly those that are sour or citrusy. This may be correct, but we may all be shocked that the highest amount of Vitamin C could be found in guavas. Other than that, it’s also interesting to know that Vitamin C is also amply present in vegetables such as broccolis, kales, bell peppers and the like. I have been drinking 500mg of Vitamin C on a daily basis. I feel that this is the shield of my immune system as I rarely suffer from bouts of colds or flu. But as always, relying on food sources will always be better than being dependent on supplements.

I remember when I was still young, my mom gets mad at me because I’m not eating the tangerines and oranges that she patiently peels just for me; I also do not drink the lemon juice that she makes. I am not a big fan of citrus fruits back then because I only like eating those sweet fruits like apple, kiwi, watermelon, etc. Upon reading this and other articles, I am thankful that she keeps on forcing it to me and I’ve come to love tangerines and lemons. It definitely helps in treating my colds when I have one. I’m not sure if it helped my immune system as well but I rarely get any fever.

I do agree that vitamin C is the main antioxidant that helps maintain and improve our health. My husband and I started taking Now Foods Vitamin C-complex, and unlike other vitamin Cs, this has bioflavonoids which prevents the formation of oxidized cholesterol through the antioxidant effect. Vitamin C also makes me feel better when I have a cold or flu. It is much better taking this instead of other cold pills that make you feel very drowsy. I also read the ingredients and found out that Now Foods Vitamin C-complex has a balanced ratio. In my opinion, taking this is another great way of adding good quality vitamin C in your diet.
